Working with children can bring about an array of joys as well as challenges. We do not expect children to function on the level of adults in their day-to-day lives, nor should we expect children to experience, work through and communicate trauma or difficult life changes in the same manner as adults do. If you want to work with children successfully, you have to let go of adult– norms and standards, find the child within, meet your child-client’s level and communicate with them there. A full and in-depth understanding of the child is necessary – understanding developmental stages, any developmental delays, attachment, as well as temperament is crucial in order to successfully work with children.
In this 2 day course, presented by Anschel Pieterson, various aspects with regards to working with children will be discussed and where possible, practical implementation thereof will be outlined.
