Stefan Heystek

Specialist Wellness Counsellor

Good day!

My name is Stefan Heystek, I am a specialist wellness counsellor registered with the ASCHP. I’ve been passionate about people and their life stories since a very young age and have always been sensitive to the emotional and cognitive experiences of people. I have had the opportunity to cultivate this fascination passion through my academic studies.

I completed:

·       BHSc with Physiology and Psychology at the North-West University (Cum Laude)

·       BSocSciHons in Psychology at the University of Pretoria (Cum Laude)

After my studies I also completed Vita Nova’s Humanitas counselling course with over 220 hours of experience garnered along with seeing clients in my own practice.

I assist people who struggle with the mental and emotional challenges that life brings as well as addressing the wounds caused by past experiences. I work with people from all walks of life, addressing trauma, grief, anger, depression, anxiety, and a sense of meaninglessness. I accomplish this through a Person-Centered approach that uses tools that empower people to live their unique lives to the fullest. I aim to create a safe space for my clients with warmth and genuineness while striving to celebrate their unique life journey and story.

I personally am fascinated with the unique lived experiences of people and how we are multi-faceted beings that are more than the sum of our parts. I strive to observe and work with people’s wellbeing with a multidimensional, holistic focus to see how each person’s wellbeing can be augmented towards living with more fulfillment. I also focus on the unique strengths of the individual and the meaning we attribute to our experiences as driving forces that can assist us in our journey of growth.
