Michaela Bouwer

Welcome!

My name is Michaela Bouwer and I am a counselling intern at Humanitas. I have received my Bachelor's and Honours degrees in Psychological Counselling Cum Laude. I look forward to meeting you. I have a passion for people's stories and providing a safe space for people to work through traumas, stressors and major life changes, both past and present. During the Humanitas Counselling course, we were lectured on a variety of topics, including Attachment, Chilhood Development, Trauma, Crisis Management, Substance Abuse and Addiction, working with Groups, Abnormal Psychology, Bereavement, the Adult Survivor and Self-Care. 

Whatever you're struggling with, I will be able to faciliate a safe space for you to share, in a respectful manner and without judgment. While I may not be able to "fix" everything, I strongy believe in Talk Therapy and the therapeutic qualities of simply sharing. I can, however, teach you healthy coping mechanisms, and use grounding and breathing techniques to help you better manage stress, anxiety, depression, etc. I look forward to meeting you on your journey of self-actualization.
