H-Con 2027 – Rooted in Connection

H-Con 2027 – Rooted in Connection, will be our second Humanitas Conference for Mental Health Professionals, across diverse fields and formal occupations.
H-Con 2026 – Rooted in Gratitude, turned out to be such a memorable event. It completely surpassed all expectations! It is therefore with a very grateful heart that we start our planning for H-Con 2027.

Why We Move to Connection

For our second conference, we continue our journey with the theme Rooted in Connection.

Connection is more than proximity, it is the thread that holds us together, the space between two people where healing begins and humanity is remembered.

  • For counsellors and mental health professionals, connection is the very foundation of our work. It is what makes the difference between a session and a turning point, between being heard and being truly seen. It sustains us in community with one another, and reminds us that we were never meant to do this work alone.
  • For our clients, connection opens the door to belonging, to trust, and to the courage it takes to reach out and begin again.

By rooting ourselves in connection, we step into 2027 with open hands and open hearts, ready to grow, together.

Guest Speakers For 2027

If H-Con 2026’s lineup taught us anything, it’s that the right voices in the right room can change everything.

For H-Con 2027 –  Rooted in Connection – we are delighted to welcome four speakers who bring depth, authenticity, and a genuine understanding of what it means to connect. With yourself. With others. With the work.

Sean King
Sean King
Registered Counsellor (HPCSA), Lecturer & Supervisor

Sean King is a Registered Counsellor (HPCSA) based in Johannesburg, working at the meeting point of clinical practice, education, and supervision. He obtained his Bachelor of Psychology from the Pearson Institute of Higher Education in 2016 and has since built a varied career providing individual and group counselling, supervision, and psychoeducational workshops across the city.

His clinical experience spans Johannesburg addiction centres, psychiatric facilities, women’s shelters, and schools, giving him a grounded understanding of the many settings in which mental health care happens and the diverse populations it serves. His approach is shaped by training in Person-Centred Therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and existential psychotherapy, with a particular affinity for the relational, meaning-focused tradition of Irvin Yalom.

Alongside his practice, Sean lectures at both Eduvos and the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP), teaching across modules that range from undergraduate programmes to postgraduate diplomas. He is a research supervisor at Eduvos and an individual supervisor at SACAP, and is currently registered for his Master’s in Research Psychology, deepening the academic side of a career already rooted in developing emerging practitioners.

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Sean runs two businesses of his own. Throughout his work he is drawn to the people-side of the profession: mentoring, supervising, and helping new practitioners find their footing. He holds to the belief that the strongest care for any client rarely comes from a practitioner working alone, but from one who stays connected to their colleagues, their own growth, and themselves.
